If you’re one of the awesome Fallout fandom geeky types that’s been following me, I thought I’d give you a headsup that I started a Fallout-themed blog. It started out of a dare my friend gave me to do a playthrough of Fallout New Vegas screencapping non-named NPCs, and now it’s sort of turned into a little project; but anyhow, it’s really nerdy, and it lives here: The Lives of Fallout NPCs.

An experiment, re: my hands

So I did a bit of an experiment recently; to try and get to the bottom of the crippling wrist pains I’ve been getting over the past few months.

I spent a week not doing any crafts or drawing at all, but just playing videogames. My hands were fine.

Then I spent a week where I drew some comics, and played videogames; but no sewing of any type. Still all fine

Then the other day I did exactly this much sewing:

…and the pain started. A hard, vicious, stabbing pain: right from the second knuckle of my middle finger, in bursts all the way down to my forearm. And even though I stopped after those few stitches, it was painful that entire night, and ached a bit the next morning too.

SO I GUESS I’VE PINPOINTED WHAT’S BEEN CAUSING THE RSI.

Unfortunately, for lack of a better solution at the moment: I’m going to stop sewing. I hate to have to do this, because I LOVE sewing and crafts, and they make me happier than anything, but I really need to prioritise looking after my hands. I might need them for something one day.

So sorry, guys. Projects are over for the foreseeable.

Don’t fret lovelies, it’s nothing you said! I’ve just totally burnt myself out working hard for the last month on cross-stitch commissions and I need to take a break and work on some really silly fluffy stuff for friends instead. Thank you very much to all the lovely people who’ve messaged me on etsy and by email.

Anyhow, expect a spate of plushie making over the next few months, as it’s much quicker and easier on the fingers, and it’ll be nice to get back into that for a bit :)

“Real life” has been getting in the way of sewing (and comics) lately- it doesn’t help that most of my current commissions are super-labour-intensive as well!

Anyway I would like YOU to see these photos of my mum and me at St Thomas Pleasure Ground yesterday selling magical whimsical cupcakery.

My head’s also been a little bit twingey this week, I think I need my meds dosage fiddled with. I thought I was doing okay, but then you suddenly realise that in order to feel fine you’ve been taking codeine several times a day for a week straight, like you’re frigging Dr House or something, and that really maybe that isn’t the best coping strategy. So doctor’s tomorrow. Onwards and upwards.

For some reason, I haven’t been able to upload screencaps to Steam for ages now. So there, I treat you to this utterly classy upskirt on tumblr instead.

I have some GLORIOUS Old World Blues caps but I don’t want to spoiler anything for anyone. By the way, is that the best DLC ever or what? Laugh out loud funny dialogue, a fantastic and moving storyline, great progression, engaging gameplay, KICKASS WEAPONS, super-awesome enemies?! I’m seriously impressed.

I’m rockin’ a Legion playthrough at the moment, which is hard when my brother is playing TF2 in my room, because he constantly makes these judgemental comments over my shoulder: “RUUUU, how could you DO that? He is a BAD MAN! You killed all those dudes? But she was SO NICE! Now you’re wearing her clothes! You’re TERRIBLE!” x10000. Seriously. It’s roleplaying, bro!

In other FalloutNewz, I’ve been totally hooked on reading coffeeminx’s fanfiction lately. It’s completely perfect. I’ve put it on my kindle because I’m all futuristic like that, and I’ve been reading it in bed and eating ice-cream. That’s the life, right?

My blind broke and collapsed on to my desk a couple days ago, which means now I have no kind of covering on my window: and I’m painfully aware that the entire street can see how much time I spend dancing with headphones on to 90s dance. Well, they don’t know it’s 90s dance, but they could probably tell by my moves.

Anyway I just rediscovered this track on spotify, and it’s been bringing me no end of joy. Not that it’s objectively a great track: it’s a Madonna sample overused ad infinitum with some catchy beats, but it made me so happy, because it reminded me of the first time I saw it on Top Of The Pops. (which is here, oh man, youtube, you are awesome.) I was totally mesmerised, because the singer is wearing a skirt and top made out of cds.

I collected free AOL trial internet cds for about six months after this, utterly determined I TOO WAS GOING TO WEAR CLOTHES MADE OUT OF DISKS.

Twelve days of daily updates on my journal comic! The queue’s due to end on dead-on two weeks, then I might take a breather. I think I got a real burst of energy from Snicklet when we were away on holiday, because she draws comics like a DEMON. Also, I have to say, my new medication’s helped a lot- I have a lot more free time when I’m not stuck in bed with pain four times a week.

Oh, and also have a great out-of-context panel!
